Each new release from Brooklyn’s L.I.E.S. imprint is keenly awaited here at Juno Plus towers, and the new 12″ from Xosar, entitled Tropical Cruize, has been top of our most wanted list since it was announced some months ago.
It’s finally been released, and we’re happy to say it’s possibly one of the best releases yet from the label. For the uninitiated, her productions blend proto-Chicago rhythms with hazy synth melodies and monolithic yet delicate organ stabs, in a similar manner to the lo-fi productions of fellow L.I.E.S. alumni Legowelt. Those unfamiliar could do worse than to check out the above video for the title track, a terrifying collage of puppets, clowns and cheap visual effects, edited by none other than Chicago veteran Marcus Mixx.
As if this wasn’t enough, she’s also got an EP dropping on Rush Hour soon along with two remixes from the aforementioned Legowelt.
