Firecracker offshoot debuts with Bakey Ustl
Fresh from helping Juno Plus to celebrate a year in existence in fine style down Curtain Rd, our friends Firecracker have sent out fresh details of their new sub label Unthank, with the first release a three track EP from the mysterious Bakey Ustl due next month.
Continuing the tradition laid down in their highly regarded series of Firecracker EPs, the inaugural Unthank EP comes on a hand stamped 10″ in strictly limited qualities. Whilst there’s no clue as to the identity of supposedly Amsterdam dwelling Estonian producer Bakey Ustl, the three tracks on the EP are of the bewitching quality you’d expect from Firecracker.
The more observant amongst you might have heard the brilliantly disjointed chugging sleaze of the A Side “Tender Places” in the mix House of Traps did for Juno Plus last week. This contrasts nicely with the shuffling future soul minimalism of “Nose Candy” and the abrasive trip through sonic weirdness that is “Heroin” that both occupy the B Side.
Joy Orbison and Hessle Audio’s Ben UFO are early adoptees and no doubt more people will get behind this release before it drops on October 11. Head over to the Firecracker Soundcloud page for a full aural experience of what to expect.
