  2. Al Gobi - "Rule Of Three" (9:02)
  3. Jack Pattern & John Parsley - "Kaboom" (5:55)

  5. Phil Gerus - "Prelude To Love" (4:37)
Review: The XXX crew are on a mission to celebrate the adventurous and utterly well-informed dance music scene of Amsterdam, and they move to the fourth release on their label with a strong cast of characters that all have something different to say. Alterleo opens up the 12" with the low-throbbing psyche out of "Train To..." before Al Gobi takes over with the aqueous hardware house bubbles of "Rule Of Three". On the B side, Jack Pattern & John Parsley work together to lay down a fierce blend of industrial and disco that will send shivers down your spine. Roger Van Lunteren meanwhile revels in the squelchiest kind of esoteric acid with a new age mystique thrown in for good measure, and then Phil Gerus provides a soothing soliloquy to finish this distinctive record off.

Secret Language (180 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: VIVOD/UTTU 001. Rel: 22 Jan 18
  1. Napoli
  2. Secret Language
  3. Purge
  4. Krapton Fictor
  5. Napoli (Umberto remix)
Review: Ali Renault's Cestrian alias is responsible for some proper gutter-dwelling electro business that has come to light on Bunker Records, MNX Recordings and more besides. There's no let up with this new slab, presented to the underworld by Vivod and Unknown To The Unknown as a joint release. "Napoli" keeps the pressure wound up to a breakneck pace while "Secret Language" places the emphasis on devilish synth tones. "Purge" attempts something akin to a more melodic, mellow mood splattered with acidic bleeps, and then "Krapton Fictor" whips out some truly crafty android boogie loaded with short circuits aplenty. Umberto swoops in at the last minute to remix "Napoli" into a relentless, storming techno brute with brains to match the brawn.

Review: Junto Club kicked off Snap Crackle & Pop late last year, and now the label returns with the debut solo release from London-based outfit DEEDS. While Rollo and Kiri Inglis may have previously popped up on an obscure compilation on Anti-Ghost Moon Ray, this record should see their coldwave sound shoring up with many more adventurous listeners. "Video Dreams" is a beautifully melancholic slice of electronica while "Unknown" reaches for euphoric heights. Remixes from Bezier and The Field round the record out as a wonderful exercise in emotive home listening electronics for sensitive souls.
