  1. Lost Dreams
  2. Reverse The Trend
  3. Darkness Stalks
  4. Distances
Review: Cyber Dance Records are back on the attack with a fresh release from the legendary Perseus Traxx aka Nigel Rogers, a 4-track EP entitled after recent scientific developments 'An Apparent Horizon'. It's a firmly machine-based and totally jam-packed affair reflecting diverse sounds from the UK's own rich history of electronic dance music, with elements from the classic Warp "deep space sound" prominent as much as the more usual 303-jacking acid house grooves in the vein of Baby Ford or Bam Bam. 'Lost Dreams' opens the record with a floaty dream-like hypnosis from the depths of space and sets the tone in magnificent style, followed up on Side A with the irresistible roll of 'Reverse The Trend' that takes the groove harder, further and deeperstraight off to the beyond. Dark strings reminiscent of old LFO, B-12 or Autechre vinyls from the early 90s propel us into Side B on 'Darkness Stalks', and then we're transported onto the concluding track on the EP, 'Distances'; an epic closer that opens with beautiful reverbed claps and acid squelches before diving into an inky black void of timeless space-travelling and slow-building tension that could surely echo hauntingly around any M25 rave in the depths of a late 1980s night.

Review: After releasing the intergalactic journey into synthesizers titled Space Control back in 2012, the Parisian duo Theremynt went on to release a successful stream of EPs, including Robotique de L'Amour and Vampiros Discos: a tribute to Brazilian filmmaker Ze do Caixao. Remixes coming from the likes of David Carretta, Acid Washed and Club Bizarre were playlisted by scene DJs such as Marvin & Guy and Ivan Smagghe. Now Yann and Eva are striking back with their second LP. .It's a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that's still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. The 10 tracks still exhibit Peel's ever shifting vocal style and Yann's sophisticated arrangements. The Parallels EP oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, Krautrock and other progressive techno sounds.

Everytime I Think Of U (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: APERSONAL 27. Rel: 15 May 17
  1. Everytime I Think Of U feat Paulo Olarte (6:10)
  2. Hola Como Estas feat Paulo Olarte & Daniel Grau (6:02)
  3. Everytime I Think Of U (Telephones Activated Mix) (8:24)
Review: It's been relatively quiet from Trujillo recently, but now the Venezuelan producer casts out a transmission from his Berlin base to let everyone know that all is well and we can get back to the business of smooth grooving. "Everytime I Think Of U" speaks to the Balearic tendencies embedded in the producer's aesthetic, with a reflective vocal swirling amidst dreamy guitar chops and swooping synth warbles of a strictly blissed out nature. Telephones does a sterling job of remixing the original version into a warm and funky deep house jam peppered with organic delights.

  1. Pallas
  2. Don't Worry I'm A Professional
  3. New Window
  4. Beneath The Surface
  5. Yes Master
Review: Ali Renault's Vivod label continues to bring the goods, as recent missives from Skatebard and Monkeyshop (their first release of any sort for 11 years) emphatically prove. The imprint's latest release comes from newcomer Paul Withey, who follows up a fine contribution to a recent split E.O on Ruby Hills & Diamond Mountain, with a debut solo E.P of his own. The five tracks featured are nicely varied stylistically, but all boast the distinctive shimmer of analogue synthesizers and dusty drum machines. Highlights include the surging Italo-disco revivalism of "Pallas", cheerily positive synth-pop flex of "Yes Master", and the curious, Radiophonic Workshop style weirdness of "Beneath the Surface".
