Southern Californian five-piece Yanga first emerged three years ago with a now sought-after debut single that put a contemporary "Afro-Colombian" spin on the effervescent Cumbia style. Now operating on Names You Can Trust, their comeback has been spread across two must-have 7" singles. The highlight of this second "Volumen" is arguably A-side "Ron Con Limon", a viciously percussive, fuzz-soaked Cumbia outing where headline grabbing vocals and accordion lines rise above the band's infectious drums. In contrast, B-side "La Veterana" is deeper, darker and more bass-heavy, with the band's vocals and accordion melodies imparting a genuine sense of impending doom.
