Review

After a trio of spectacular releases from Vibration Black Finger, the Enid label rolls out another new artist, Woven Entity. Much like the vibe of the previous records, there is a clear jazz sensibility running through this magnificent debut LP, often straying off into wonderfully obscure territories that recall the rainforest. For instance, the opening jingles of "Om" are an instant plunge into the darkest depths of the jungle, while others like "Cry Wolf" do so without any of the gimmicks, preferring instead to land a feeling of mystery via the medium of percussion - which there is plenty of on here! There are, of course, more melodic moments where traditional jazz frameworks are used, such as "Seven Vibes To Add" or the loose, free-spirited mood of "Opium", but the majority of this fine album is awash with improvisation and electronic tweaking. That is, obviously, something we absolutely love. Don't let this go by the wayside, it really is a fantastic piece of sound design.
