Tokyo-based Will Long teams up once again with DJ Sprinkles for the third in their series of stripped-back acid explorations. 'Acid Trax S' sees Sprinkles credited as co-producer rather than remixer, and it showsiten minutes of pure 303 hypnosis that nods directly to DJ Pierre's formative blueprint, all jack and no frills. On the flip, Long's solo 'Acid Trax R' punches with bolshier intent, rigid yet trippy, built for long blends and serious dancers. There are no euphoric payoffs here, just tension, release, and a deep respect for minimalism as a political and rhythmic tool. It's machine music handled with restraint and total purposeia dialogue between queer lineage, club history and present-tense dancefloor needs. As ever with Comatonse, the energy is deliberate, not loud.
