Also known as techno producer Obtane, Francesco Baudazzi has been raking up the audio muck of his studio as Violet Poison for a good few years now, with albums gracing Hospital Productions and Opal Tapes amongst others. This latest release marks the beginning of Veleno Viola, a label presumably focused on supporting the ominous noise work that Baudazzi puts his creative energy into these days. His is a dense, overwhelming sound that prizes industrial blasts and heavy wads of distortion, with the odd dash of sinister vocals lurking somewhere in between the cloying layers of noise. For all of that sonic antagonism, there is a human heart beating away underneath the rubble and it makes for a compelling listen.
