California dweller Urbanite (real name Eduardo Ruelas) has been rather quiet since launching his 12 Inches Deep label in 2016. In fact, this is his first EP since. It was arguably worth the wait. Title track "Intergalactic Werk", a bounding slab of 21st century deep house funk smothered in sweaty, ghetto-house style drum machine fills, sparkling electronic motifs and rubbery synth-bass, is particularly potent, while the deep, sub-heavy shuffle of "Osho's Flower W Spunkyz" and classic deep house warmth of "Deeper Instincts" are also hugely alluring. Tucked away at the end of the EP is another energetic workout: the mind-altering sub bass, fluttering deep space synths and jackin' machine drums of 'We Meet Again".
