In its original, Kirsti Lomax-produced A-side mix form, 'Afro-LaTeena' is a deep, dusty and percussion-rich treat that sits somewhere between the heady loop-jams of Soundstream, the string-laden majesty of Pepe Bradock's 'Deep Burnt', and the warming, organic, Afro-tinged deep house of Ron Trent. Over on the flip, Greg Royal and Teflon Dons' Aaron Paar deliver a tasty, arguably tougher interpretation that re-imagines the track as a rolling slab of deep, late-night Afro-house excellence. In a word: superb.
