Barcelona-based Max Guardans has been releasing his ear-catching strain of tech house on Crosstown Rebels since 2019, and after a brief pause he's back with another striking record which shows off his infectious flair. 'Isla' is an exotic cut with fragments of vocal and dexterous percussion, quirky sound design and more all strapped to a rock solid beat. 'Mothball' lets a little swing into proceedings, while 'Brain The Cut' has a slightly more 'big-room' attitude with its brooding sense of progression. 'Arp 8' closes the EP out with a reflective mood led by synths and carried by a mellower beat, offering a natural wind down from the clubby strains that dominate this inventive fourth release from one of Spain's most interesting emergent talents.
