Review

It's pretty easy to jump to conclusions, or at least make assumptions, when words like "nihilist existentialists" are applied to synth acts based in Neukolln, one of Berlin's most desirable non-conformist neighbourhoods. And what's here certainly sounds like it fits that setting - uptempo and highly accessible on the surface, but with dark, unnerving nuances. Electro pop with BDSM tendencies, perhaps. If that doesn't sound like your kind of thing, perhaps this may change your mind: The Detox Twins' latest is tight on production and heavy on the compelling, commanding and inescapable. The result meaning that after about two minutes of "Warschauerstrasse" you're likely to be locked in for the full album. Highlights including, but not limited to, the hypnotic bumbler "Einhorn Suicide" and the unsettlingly moody "In The Hospital Garden", although everything here is top quality eccentric party stuff.
