After contributing to the first two various artist EPs from Mancunian operation Red Laser, Wet Play resident Ste Spandex is given the space to showcase his full range of talents and inspiration on the label's third release. Arriving with some vividly excellent artwork courtesy of the Spandex man himself, the three productions on EP#1 reach far above the realm of simple contemporary disco and lead track "Big Fat Truck" will provide instant satisfaction for many. Vast weaving synths slide perfectly alongside the sparse percussive rhythms with Spandex judging the balance of weight between both elements perfectly, whilst in the depths the ghost of a disco diva adds some echo laden soul. Alongside this "Beatin' My Time" has Hoya Hoya anthem written into its DNA, a glee filled psychedelic mid tempo number that feels like Madlib on mushrooms, whilst "Piano V2" is a perma-building 90s house number with a rhythmic looseness that would impress Funkineven.
