After a breakout 2013 that saw releases on Manucci's Mistress and Shabby Doll, Sheffield-based producer Squarehead comes through with perhaps his most profile issue yet in the shape of Dead Reyt. If you're familiar with Oliver Ledger's brand of upfront house then you'll know he's a perfect fit for the Let's Play House label run by Nik Mercer and Jacques Renault and this quartet of productions is some of the strongest Squarehead material to date. The title track is a muscular house groove that feels fresh whilst containing some classicist house music tropes, whilst the finger snapping "Got2Know" really shows off Squarehead's mastery of vocal chopping. Those partial to a weird B Side will be all over "Vishen" whilst it's apparently been scientifically proven that "Someday" is best heard as the sun sets on the Croatian coastline.
