Split Music's sub-label, Research, debuts with a magnetic compilation featuring some of the hottest names in underground techno, evolving its tradition of bringing music to designers or movie production companies into something more approachable for the record buyer. Spheres is a no-nonsense kind of joint, blasting out techno from These Hidden Hands from the get-go, and offering much more experimental, wide-eyed industrial sketches from the likes of In Paradisum's Mondkopf or SNTS - the latter sounding a bit like Zimmer on the score of Blade Runner 2049! Take comes through with some broken techno loops, while Headless Horseman is in no room to piss about, and Grebenstein adds a little UK flavour to the equation. Lovely. More Research, please!
