We don't know much about Spatial apart from the fact that he's been making deep, mystical and experimental electronic music with a dubwise twist, since 2008. The majority of his work has come through his own Infrasonics label, though Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic, West Norwood Cassette Library, Stillcold Industries, the now-defunct Well Rounded Records, and Niche N Bump have all drawn for Spatial material in the past few years. After a three year hiatus, Infrasonics returns with Spatial at the helm on Emergence #1. The two-tracker starts with "HeLa", a militant tune which sits between the boundaries of techno and dubstep, powered by a pseudo 4/4 beat and a killer serving of sci-fi melodies. On the flipside, "Referent" maintains the same mood, except this time the groove is looser, the beats more sporadic and the arrangement sparser.
