Ricardo Donoso's Kathexis label return, bringing with them a second album from the under-rated Bristol sound artist Sophia Loizou. It was Astro:Dynamics that first tipped the world to Loizou, issuing her debut album, Chrysalis, on tape back in late 2014 and suggested she was a powerful new voice in the world of sonic exploration. The eight track Singulacra picks up on the unique recording approaches shown by Loizou on her debut, but expands her sonic remit as the ghostly remnants of hardcore, jungle and pirate radio are channelled and fed through some blissfully ambient soundscapes. Two albums in and Sophia Loizou has us very impressed!
