Out of Neil 'Nail' Tolliday's many aliases and spheres of exploration, Smoke has to be one of the best. Taking the dub techno principles wherever he chooses, Tolliday basks in lush delay feedback and cools down with ample reverb tails when his Smoke hat is on. So it goes on this excellent new 12" for Utopia Club Tracks, which leads in with the soporific swell of 'GimAnsDub' before heading out of the fog to the placid island murmurations of 'Invorch2-1'. 'Tell Me' lets things ping out plentifully around a dusty, dreamy house beat, and then 'Chamaaf' rounds things out with a shimmering dub chord flex you can almost sink your teeth into.
