Review

On this outing for Glenview, Whiskey Disco main man Sleazy McQueen delivers a formidable blast of glitter-laden P-funk. In original form, "The Walking Beat" sounds like a hoedown between Prince, Parliament and James Brown. It's the kind of record you can't help dancing to. The "Shake Your Ass Version" adds a little ghetto-house swing - all sturdy handclaps, heavy sub and cut-up vocals - before Cole Medina gives it more of a James Brown feel (whilst also sampling up Gwen Guthrie's "Seventh Heaven"). Finally, Bobby Starr turns McQueen's original into a bouncy chunk of old skool piano house. Fun times all round.
