Given recent events around the globe, it feels a little like the end of the world may be fast approaching. Disco Mas's latest signing, Sister Mas, seems to agree. By apocalyptic pop standards, "Fin Del Mundo" is surprisingly jolly - even if the track's bouncy Cumbia rhythms, fuzz-laden guitars and low-slung post-punk elements do tend towards the maudlin and macabre. Speaking of post-punk, flipside "Quemame" sounds like an eyeliner-clad new wave pop moment from that period. Think jaunty, Chakk style saxophones, bustling ESG bass, glistening surf guitars and half-chanted, half-sung female vocals. It's undoubtedly a recipe for success.
