A lot of new labels with a lot of new artists are hitting our shelves these days, and it appears that the lo-fi house sound which has dominated the scene until now is breaking off into deeper, more intricate ideas that have much of their grounding in experimental electronica. SHLM, who makes his debut here on the Pacem Mesopotamia label, offers minimalistic house music seen thorugh the eyes of a surrealist. "Track 1", for example, goes much further into the ether compared to a lot of other material sharing its same category, exuding a thick cloud of sub bass and euphoric delight in its path to dancefloor domination; "Track 2" is a melodic extension of the first, unleashing a cascade of loved-up melodies that spill over skeletal beats and weighty undertones. Excellent and tipped!
