Sweden's pleasingly experimental iDEAL Recordings launched the iDEALISM series of multi-artist EPs back in 2015. This second volume has been long promised, though it's arguably been worth the wait. It features a quartet of dark, moody and intense tracks that effortlessly combine elements of experimental noise, industrial music, and left-of-centre techno. Alexandra Atnif provides the EP's most harrowing moment, an intense, pitch-black onslaught entitled "Last Stand of Reason". If that could be described as "fiendishly unsettling", we'd argue that Varg's trippy "Run No More Parts I & II" is an altogether more psychedelic proposition - even if it is a little on the uncomfortable side. If you're after something a little more becalmed, check out the gently unfurling drone textures of Copley Medal's epic "Ger Lopic".
