Spanish electro duo SBLES3PLEX made quite a stir at the turn of the millennium, releasing a trio of killer EPs on Djax-Up Beats before all but vanishing from view. While there have been occasional collaborations and digital-only EPs since, Maquinas Deseantes - their long-promised debut album - is the production pair's most significant release since 2003. Musically, the set - featured on disc one - ticks all the right boxes, touching on a myriad of electro-related sub-genres (IDM, intelligent techno, electrofunk, Italo-disco, Drexciyan moods etc.) in an entertaining and hugely enjoyable 10-track voyage. Various Future Bass Intelligence label-mates and associates offer their own interpretations on disc two, often retaining the spacey feel of the duo's original versions whilst adding a little more dancefloor oomph.
