Melbourne four-piece RVG give their emotional, Australian-tinged ballad music a complete release with this A Quality Of Mercy album. It's hard not to feel the ghost of Michael Hutchence inside the group's vocals, with thick strips of Australiana rock permeating the core of RVG's instrumentality. Released on a limited clear vinyl, the LP opens with the grand gesture that is its title track, replete with horns, crashing cymbals and walls of guitars. Album highlight is the emotional, dial up modem interrupting 'IBM' and for more classical ballads see "Heart Paste" and "The Eggshell World".
