Review

Czech producer Rido first popped his head above the parapet way back in 2002, and has since gone on to release singles on Fokuz, Metalheadz and Trust In Music, amongst others. Rhythm of Life, though, is his first full-length release - and very good it is, too. After kicking things off with the punchy D&B creepiness of "Ignition", he races through a succession of dancefloor-friendly cuts that variously touch on dark and twisted grooves ("Microwave Radiation"), string-drenched liquid funk ("Veins"), Ed Rush and Optical style tech-step ("Cut The Midrange"), and more experimental jungle flavours (the curious beat cut-ups of "Solar Walk"). Best of all, though, is the sheer bass onslaught of "Movin", which is one seriously weighty chunk of dancefloor filth.
