Synth-pop adventurers Rainbow Arabia has a good record of mixing things up. While the duo's early work - not least 2011 full-length Boys & Diamonds - successfully fused synth-pop with distinctive World Music influences, 2013 follow-up FM Sushi was far more concerned with mid-'80s, AM radio pop. LA Heartbreak is more in line with the latter, with Tiffany Preston's distinctive vocals seemingly soaring over waves of melodious synthesizer lines, bubby basslines, glistening chord progressions and occasional blasts of sun-kissed guitar. There are subtle nods to techno-pop, Italo-disco and Bobby Orlando productions, but for the most part the duo stick to their bubby, loved-up, '80s synth-pop template.
