Simona Faraone's New Interplanetary Melodies raises the heat with Marcell Napoletano's Ra Toth & The Brigante's Orchestra project's first full EP "Acid Sea". A vivid hybrid experiment, the troupe flip between moments of frenzied confusion and otherworldly dizziness on tracks such as the gritty, distorted, aquatic acid title track and the horn-melting time-bender "System Desease" to much more conventional groove experimentation such as the slinky, woozy jam "Nico's Bass". Climaxing with the theremin-warping one-way trip into space that is "Marciolamenti", it's a remarkable trip that's layered in detail and convention-challenging phrases. Dig deep.
