Review

PUP have never been ones for apologies, or apologetic music. Taking the ferocity and frenzy of hardcore punk, but realising that in a pop light, this EP is another example of how they burst from the stalls at full pelt and never have much interest in letting up until finish line. It bangs, wails and grinds its way through high octane tracks that feel as made for the live stage as the release title itself, which is apparently a nod to a phrase regularly used by the band on the road as they hauled up in hotel rooms here, there and anywhere.

Those heady, halcyon days are currently on hold, making this collection of ravenous and raucous guitar assaults even more necessary. With the music world having spent the best part of a year wrapped in suffocating bubble wrap it's important to remind ourselves exactly what is we are longing to restart. This Place... goes someway to answering that question with two words; human energy.
