|1.||"Albatross" (Anthony Shake Shakir remix)|
Kowton and Anthony Shake Shakir remix a classic from the Portable archives for the thirteenth release from a resurgent Sud Electronic. Dormant for some five years, Sud returned in requisite fashion last year with a May Boyoi twelve inch, and this record demonstrates the label is here to stay (once more) Alan Abrahams, has always been strongly aligned to the Sud Electronic stable, inaugurating the label back in 2002, whilst "Albatross" is a considered highlight of his 2007 album for the label. For a new generation this 12" represents a chance to familiarise themselves with Abrahams' decidedly Tim Curry style vocal delivery and the remixes are truly on point. Anthony 'Shake' Shakir overdrives Portable's original, essentially rewriting it in the process, transforming the vocals into something similar to those in Cybotron's "Cosmic Cars", while collaborator Kowton rubs down his version for an eerie Bristolian drum track, which bounces back for a bonus beats encore after its apparent end.
