Eugene "Eug" Wang's San Francisco label Public Release is back, following up some great editions by the likes of local hero Bezier, the imitable Mark E and Let's Play House main man Jacques Renault. This time around it's over to Russian producer Phil Gerus; who over the years has appeared everywhere from Sonar Kollektiv and Futureboogie to even ManMakeMusic. The Scenes EP starts out on the A side with the sexy boogie down vibe of "Ohashi Sky Garden" which afterwards gets an absolutely electric remix by London based retrovert Richard Sen. On the flip, the retro, neon-lit aesthetics continue on the funk hoedown of "Naha Swim" while the slow motion romance of "Kiss Of A Kind" features one absolutely roaring sax solo over some sweet FM synths and tape hiss; nice one.
