LA label Peak Oil make a drastic change from their intermittent release schedule with the second of two releases this week which introduces a new project from Swiss artist Florin Buchel. Advocates of Lux Rec and Mathematics will be well versed in the musical endeavours of Buchel, with his Contra Communem Opinionem project appearing on both labels, whilst the Swiss artist has plenty of work under other aliases that we implore you to explore. His arrival on Peak Oil introduces the conceptually-loaded Operation Midnight Climax project which seeks inspiration from the CIA's shadowy experiments with LSD as a chemical weapon in the 1950s and 60s. Musically, this results in some six tracks of heady, swirling jack tracks filled with blots of lysergic acid.
