The prize for strangest, most musically captivating release of the week goes to October. Otherwise known as Caravan boss Julian Smith, October's "That Placid Track" defies categorisation, as it shifts relentlessly between disco, techno and dubstep and is just one of those tracks that gets better with every listen. Whilst the constant cowbell and flourishes of strings are grounded in disco, the scattergun editing and half step stutter sound like Ramadanman at his most sonically 'intriguing. Caravan score a coup by enlisting Ewan Pearson to remix the track. Straightening out the kinks, Pearson makes the track a more viable entity for the dancefloor, though he's smart enough to retain that satisfying half step crunch.
