Deeplay boss Martin Brodin continues his journey back to his discocentric roots on the MB Disco imprint with two retouches of a track that has its place in the history of dance music. Newcleus' "Jam On It" bridged the gap between the nascent styles of proto hip-hop and electro back upon its release in 1984 and is something of an obsession for the Swedish impresario. Brodin has already done two remixes of the track as part of a Deeplay release a few years back that also saw interpretations from Von Stroke and DJ T. His latest effort that adorns the A Side takes a suitably Balearic approach to the track, laying down a substantial live drum sounding beat and heavily delayed synths before that distinctive electro melody comes in as the precursor to some heavy string drama. On the flip Chicken Lips come through with an infectious space dub version that drops plenty of vintage analogue lines and reverberant percussion on top of a beefed up version of that melody.
