The overabundance of poorly executed Ableton "disco edits" seems to have curbed in recent times, allowing those with the obvious knowledge and skill for the art the freedom to shine. Still choosing to operate under a cloak of mystery and intrigue, a second round of edited and untitled disco oddities from New York Edits arrives this week bearing the trademark skull and "Made In NYC" stamps. Described only as the well kept secret weapons of a famous New York record shop owner, such avoidance of the truth didn't stop the inaugural volume swiftly selling out and it should bear no obstacle here either. The heavy string and organ arrangements of the lead track hint at disco classicism, while the flip is on more of a funk heavy basement tip - both edits do however demonstrate a mastery of the style you'd imagine would please Walter Gibbons (RIP).
