Mike Paradinas presents his first album under the ?-Ziq moniker, or any other name, since 2013. Written and recorded while in lockdown in the Gower, one of Wales' most stunning locations, although the initial moments of Scurlage feel far removed from sweeping beaches and rolling hills, when you dig a little deeper you begin to hear at least some of the location in the tracks.
You do really need to listen properly though. There's so much here that feels plucked straight from the lost scenes of Blade Runner - a science fiction feast for the years built from synths and drum pads that can still work well on the dance floor. Nevertheless, its analogue in feel and there's a sense not just of light and dark but past and present, nostalgia and hope for the future.
