Konrad Becker and Daniel Leeflang's infamous and now cult-like Monoton product has certainly seen a revival in the last few years, with artists such as Regis remixing some of the legendary 1980's output. Ahead of a planned reissue of Becker's debut Monoton LP, Desire have elected to offer up a new picture disc double LP edition of the Monoton 07 album they originally reissued back in 2012 and it was about time, too! The previous reissue was relatively limited and an LP of this status deserves to be available for long after its release. There is no way to describe this music apart from the fact that it's incredibly important to the rise of electronic dance music in the 1990's, particularly Berlin's sound. Monotonprodukt07 is functional, linear, and mechanical but at the same time deranged, broken and absurdly experimental. Traktor, T++, Basic Channel and artists of this calibre would not be where they are had they not heard music like this! Absolutely essential!
