When he sat down to compose debut album Amniotic, Steffen Linck AKA Monolink wanted the resultant set to have a "tremendous, tangible link to nature". Listening to the finished version, you can hear what he was trying to achieve. Notably, the album is warm, loose and hugely atmospheric, drawing as much influence from left-of-centre indie-rock and alternative synth-pop as hypnotic tech-house and slowly shifting techno. The vast majority of the album's 11 tracks come laden with glistening guitar passages, woozy electronics, gently throbbing grooves, twinkling piano lines and, most surprisingly of all, evocative vocals from the man himself. This approach is arguably best exemplified by recent single "Sirens", but can also be heard throughout the CD on cuts like "Rearrange My Mind", "Father Ocean" and "Take Me Home".
