For a lifetime Kimmo Rapatti's Mono Junk alias has been an enigmatic presence in the techno landscape; first as a constant throughout the early '90s with the run of releases on his own Dum Records before reappearing on the label more regularly during the mid-2000s. Come 2014 Rapatti was coaxed out of abeyance by Canadian label Forbidden Planet, with another record surfacing on Skudge White that same year, and now, following a second release on Forbidden Planet, he returns to Skudge White in 2015 with this Acid Marylou EP. It pitches the 303 against colourful, synth fuelled-backgrounds and rattling drum machines programmed in a manner that don't sound tried or retrospective, and it's a fresh to listen to as Rivet's most recent release on SELF.
