ANOTHER SLAB OF TTT HEAT! Known to the online dance community for his journalistic endeavours, Angus Finlayson crosses the critical divide with aplomb on this debut transmission under the Minor Science guise. Sitting in the uncomfortable yet intriguing crawlspace between Madteo and Actress, it's quite easy to see why Will Bankhead would be drawn to these five tracks. Opening with the brief fractured vignette "Lightfastness" which sounds like a FM dial being shunted through the sonic mists, the Minor Science sound then draws on four more rounded productions that offer compelling variety. The cooing stutter of "Silence" emits a succession of thick gaseous clouds of textural incandescence that are quite intoxicating, whilst the skeletal timbral patter of "Hapless" hides a vocal that's buried so far deep into the mix you'll keep pulling the needle back and messing with your bass EQ in order to try and decipher it. "The Beckoner" is woozy techno that manages to rein in the melodic chaos that always seems on the cusp of breaking out, whilst "Foggy Situation" is quite beautiful in it's abstract construction.
