Review

DJ Rupture and Matt Shadetek are pleased to announce the debut release on their new Dutty Artz label. This 12" traces the subsonic
vibrations of dubstep far from its home territories in the British Isles, first to Barcelona and then NYC. On the a-side we find the debut
release from newcomer Cauto with his heavyweight throwback 'Old School', re-imagining Shy FX's classic 'Original Nuttah' as a dubstep
/digi-dancehall thumper, followed by 'Bona Vida', a chest-vibrating piece of reggae-tinged heaviness. A startlingly confident debut from
the young Spanish producer. On the flip side native New Yorker Matt Shadetek puts a foot in the dubstep pond with his remix of Tanya
Stephens' 'Can't Breathe', a catchy and gorgeous piece of bittersweet feminine lovelost anger. Shadetek adds neck-breaking sub bass
drops for full sound-system punishment. This is followed-up by his genre-hostile remix of Sizzla's 'Girlfriend', which sees dancehall, electro-
pop and wobble bass rubbing up in the dark on a drunk Friday night.
