Review

Having spent the last few years showcasing his wares on an impressive collection of labels - Dekmantel and Ghostly International included - the Matrixxman Charles McCloud Duff has decided to launch his own imprint, The Grid. Naturally, he provides the label's debut release, offering up six deep space outings stretched across two slabs of wax. While there are a couple of more atmospheric, ambient-leaning cuts - see the quietly pulsing electronic space symphony "Data Link", and Pete Namlook style bliss of "Invitations" - the majority of the release is formidably floor-focused. Highlights include the restless, all-action late night creepiness of "Compromised", the bleeping techno-funk of "Password", and the hybrid Detroit Techno-goes-to-Berlin shuffle of closer "Quantum Bandwidth".
