Cult Chicago producer Marcus Mixx might be known more to the current generation for his $30 dollar videos and risque singles for Unknown To The Unknown, but he's been producing singles for over 25 years. Released under the M+M moniker in 1987, the M+M Theme 12" might be from the '80s, but fits in with the contemporary wave of lo-fi house music; the loose, dusty rhythms and tumbling bassline of the title track sounds like Steve Summers' tape-saturated take on jack, while the acid slurry and rigid flurry of percussion at the heart of "Untitled" could easily have come from a Mutant Beat Dance or Svengalisghost 12" today. If you're looking for a piece of some OG "outsider house", look no further.
