FTD is a new label from Charles Drakeford, a London based DJ who will be familiar to anyone that has tuned into Boiler Room or NTS regularly over the past few years. One of the longest serving and indeed most affable hosts on the increasingly global music platform, Drakeford also holds down the Friday evening From Them Depths show on NTS and the decision to start a label seems like a logical step. Its clear Drakeford's esoteric tastes will be central to FTD, with this first release introducing the distinct talents of Polish producer Lutto Lento. Sourced from the Warsaw-based artist's archive of cassette recordings, these five tracks could loosely be framed as house given the rhythmic framework utilised but there's a lot more going on too. If you like the Porridge Bullet stuff from Ajukaja you need to check this. A great start for FTD!
