Who said that quality coldwave and minimal synth has to belong to the 80s? Led Er Est, the NYC outfit that includes part-time techno luminary Shawn O'Sullivan, certainly like to prove otherwise and, in fact, this is some of the illest material available across those genres. Dust On Common is one of their which surfaced in 2009 and that has been the stuff of legends ever since - a true collector's piece from the post-90s bubble. Of course, it's Berlin's unstoppable Mannequin which has taken the effort to re-release this beauty for RSD 2017, and we gotta say that it's probably the best release from this year's showcase. Travelling between post-punk, stoner rock, industrial and techno, the album is as diverse as it is singular; most of all, it gives us the belief that we shouldn't always look to the far past to find inspiration and excitement. While we love this work, it has left us with a taste for more. Being on more Led Er Est material!
