BOOM! A much needed reissue is back on our charts right here; Analogsoul's infamous mini compilation, the Highs & Hills Remixes package from the label's main man, Klinke Auf Cinch. While the likes of Workshop or Mikrodisko always get the name-drop, Leipzig's Analogsoul is equally iconic and it would be fair to say that they too have been responsible for crafting a very particular house/techno sound. To us, the most impressionistic tunes out of this selection have to be Tilmann Jarmer's version of "This", a dusty lil' dance tune with a meditative backdrop, followed by Boytalk's lovely garage interpretation of "What's Happening", and Micronaut's glitchy minimalities over "Broken Master". While the tunes are very different from each other, it's clear that the Analogsoul very much has its own agenda going on. Recommended.
