The latest full-length exploration from Norwegian composer and experimental guitarist Kim Myhr, You/Me, is something of a softly-spun epic. Consisting of two near 20-minute workouts simply titled "A" and "B" (the set first appeared on wax in the autumn), it sees Myhr being joined by a trio of drummers. With several sticks-men at his disposal, you'd expect it to be heavy, but for the most part it isn't. Instead, "A" is a joyous exploration of psych-folk guitar motifs, curious percussion, buried samples and Steve Reich-esque melodic cycles, while "B" offers 20 minutes of rising and falling acoustic guitars, otherworldly effects and an extended ambient outro full of jazz cymbals and trippy noises. Superb stuff, all told.
