Review

Steel City Dance Discs: the vinyl only label curated by Mall Grab and most likely named after his hometown town of Newcastle in New South Wales Australia. It has served up killer releases recently by the likes of Ghettohousedrummachine, DJ Astral and X-Coast. It's now the turn of Jun Kamoda of Mister Saturday Night and Kabukahrythm fame. The quirky neon-lit funk of "Flaming Flamingo" starts of the A side along with the dusty and hypnotic confusion of "Misty Funk" which would be perfect for playing at an after-hours. On the flip, the EPs most lively moment comes in the form of the uplifting "The Fine Line" reminiscent of early Derrick Carter's Sound Patrol project.
