Healing... first arrived in summer 2020, when most of us really needed to break the depression of life in and out of lockdown. Like so much of Barwick's work, these stunning choral moods offered a real sense of solace and refuge through deeply evocative sounds, with the theme of salvation carried throughout the beautiful pieces.
Even the title refers to an internet mantra poking fun at both the comedic and serious apocalyptic images we have all seen during the pandemic, and the possibility of humanity recovering. Initially unveiled as the disconnect between being 'saved' and 'lost' was at its peak, with the first vaccine now approved and light just about visible at the end of the tunnel things look different. But while we have never been closer to a solution, we have never been further from life as it once was, so the message here only resonates more.
