Johnny Guitar Wilson brings a style that is unique for the way it mixes jazz, blues, funk and unbridled joy with big hooks. 'A Real Mother For Ya' is the opening tune on his 1977 album of the same name. It shows off the great entertainer's humorous style and lyrics with outstanding musicianship to boot. Often said to be a flamboyant showman and electric guitarist, that is plan here with the tune's sleazy sense of low slung funk and nodding riffs. 'Lover Jones' is the closing tune on the same album and is a much more sedate and heart warming slow jam.
