Simoncino's label HotMix Records hits up Italian producer Joe Drive for the label's fifth and final release of 2012, rounding off a stellar year that's seen Marcello Napoletano, Merwyn Sanders (of Virgo Four fame) and house fetishist Steve Summers all grace the label. Tribal grooves, shaking tambourines and repetitive house chords drunk on LFO intoxicate "Geb", whereas "Sguasi Revelation" employs bleating vocals, abstract house drums and swaggering synths. "The Lost Player" hits the tropical and broken beat tip while "Early Light" is an uplifting and retrospective house classic in the making. "Frame 228" sounds like a leftfield fusion of Pepe Bradock's "Deep Burnt" with the drums and off kilter expression of Theo Parish's "Slowly Surely".
